Originally designed for home use, the Wunda Chair combines compact design with extraordinary versatility — the first “functional home gym” created by Joseph Pilates. Invented in the 1940s, the Wunda Chair was Joseph Pilates’ first apparatus designed for home practice. Built to fit small New York apartments, it cleverly doubled as a piece of furniture, while offering a challenging and complete workout. Despite its modest size, the Wunda Chair develops strength, control, and balance, requiring precision and concentration in every movement. It embodies Joseph’s belief that true health and vitality should be available to everyone, beyond the studio. Our Wunda Chairs are crafted by hand in Sweden, combining traditional woodworking with precision engineering to preserve the authentic feel of the classical Pilates equipment.
